Daring Bakers: Decorated Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies! For me, sugar cookies always have a flavor of Christmas, so it was an interesting challenge to try to decorate them for September. September doesn’t have any strong associations for me other than the usual fall and back-to-school themes, and even those are more a matter of convention than closely associated with personal memories. September is just a month with a bit of this a bit of that, but really very uneventful at heart. Which, perhaps, made the humble sugar cookie a perfect match for the month itself–simple, but with little bits of color sprinkled throughout!

As is customary with me, I’ll direct you the challenge host’s blog for the recipes. The September 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Mandy of “What the Fruitcake?!” Mandy challenged everyone to make Decorated Sugar Cookies based on recipes from Peggy Porschen and The Joy of Baking.
